Testimonial
Thank you for the excellent job you always do, taking care of Ajax. Since he has joined Dioji, Ajax has lost 5lbs and looks fantastic. He has a thyroid condition that with medication, diet control and exercise he would be much healthier and happier. With our hectic schedules and living 35 minutes from work, there is not much time to exercise Ajax during the week. Dioji has been the answer and the proof was the weigh-in at the vet.
On top of that, Ajax loves all his new friends and Dioji has been an incredible social outlet for him. I know from the time I drop him off he will have a full day of running and playing. This guarantees that he will be tired when he gets home… just like the rest of the family
Thank you Dioji for the excellent care you provide.

Felt an itch lately?
By Beverly Place Holmes DVM
Felt an itch lately? I have felt more than a few. Thanks to the flea, this season has been the itchiest for our four legged friends in many years. Most people hate the idea of a flea getting on their pet. But fleas are impossible to avoid in the environment, even by the most caring families. The best we can do is control them.
Adult fleas are not only a nuisance, but can cause medical problems including flea allergy dermatitis (FAD), tapeworms, secondary skin irritations and, in extreme cases, anemia and transmission of disease. Although bites are rarely felt, it is the resulting irritation caused by the flea salivary secretions that varies among individuals. This irritation may last a few minutes to days depending on one's sensitivity. Most clients are surprised to find out that, with a truly sensitive pet, it may only take one flea to cause a whole lot of itch.
We are fortunate to live with the availability of safe and effective flea control, allowing us to avoid the toxic chemicals with which we once bombed, dipped, and sprayed.
Easy steps to a flea free home:
- Be sure to start with vacuuming all the carpet, cracks in floors, dark corners and pet sleeping areas to remove any eggs. (Empty the contents of the vacuum and remove it from the house.)
- Consider using Lufeneron year round (available as Program or Sentinel). This very safe product is a growth regulator; which stops fleas from developing from eggs and larvae. An easy way to think of it is flea birth control. This prevents infestation of your house and most of your yard, even if another pet traveling through dropped off the fleas!
- Use a flea comb regularly to check for fleas and flea dirt. Not sure what fleas looks like? Ask your vet.
- If you are seeing adult fleas, use a trusted topical like Advantage or Frontline for long acting control of adult fleas, or Capstar for instant results without a topical residue. These products have shown to be very safe and effective, but do not prevent infestation and are best used in combination with a Lufeneron product.

Tip of the Month
What is one of the most important things to remember when training my dog?
By Alecia Evans, Animal Trainer
Consistency, Consistency, Consistency
When it comes to training a new pup, consistency is the key to getting the response and results you desire.
The pack is about hierarchy, order and structure. When momma needs to teach her pups proper rules of behavior and conduct she is not concerned about being liked, she is concerned about being clear and consistent as any inconsistencies or lack of clarity in her correction could mean a lack of survival for her pups. A lack of consistency can cause a perception on your animals part that you are not a calm, assertive leader and can lead to the consistent testing of your boundaries by your animal.
When working with your pup or your older dog, check in to see if you are being a consistent leader. It makes life much easier for everyone. Boundaries will be tested less so more time can be spent having fun within the parameters that you have established. |

Thanksgiving Feast
It can be tough on our pups Thanksgiving day. They’re either left alone while you are out celebrating with family & friends or they’re overwhelmed while you’re hosting at your home. This year, you can treat them to the Thanksgiving they deserve. Dioji is open from 7am - 7pm on Thanksgiving day and we’re planning fun turkey games and passing out Turkey treats as a special bonus.
